NAACP’s gala fundraiser caps off Juneteenth events in St. Louis ST. LOUIS – All across the St. Louis region, people were out and about celebrating and observing Juneteenth.“This is a lot of Black-owned businesses, like I said, and the day that people got freed. I think all races and ethnicities can come out here," said Jai Lavaughn, an organizer for Black Woodstock Festival.Businesses and vendors were at the third annual event in East St. Louis; for some, it was the first time.“I tried to make sure, cause I knew I needed to come, cause last year it was such a big event," said Toyreale Williams, owner of Fat Chick Treats. Suspect barricaded in home after allegedly stabbing 2 people in L.A. County Police in Los Angeles are searching for a suspect who allegedly stabbed two people in Porter Ranch on Monday. According to the LAPD, officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 19100 block of Salt Lake Place round 5 p.m.When they arrived on scene, they found a 45-year-old woman suffering from an apparent stab wound and a 50-year-old man suffering from a contusion. The suspect barricaded himself into a home and is refusing to come out. Video footage from the scene shows an unknown substance flowing from the garage that authorities believe could be potentially dangerous. The neighborhood has been evacuated as police surround the home where the suspect is hiding.The suspect is described as a 55-year-old white male standing at 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. The investigation into what led up to the stabbing remains ongoing.

Oakland police investigating 50th homicide of 2023 OAKLAND – A man was shot to death Monday night near his home in Oakland’s Maxwell Park neighborhood, marking the city’s 50th homicide of the year, police said.The shooting was reported around 6 p.m. in the 5000 block of Camden Street, about a block from MacArthur Boulevard.No arrests were announced and a motive was not released.Last year at this time Oakland police had investigated 52 homicides in the city.Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
