(CNN) — Israeli ground forces are inside Gaza after entering the enclave overnight, as Palestinians experienced what they have described as the most intense round of airstrikes since Israel began its retaliation against Hamas’ October 7 terror attack.Israeli forces “went into the Gaza Strip and expanded the ground operation where infantry, armor and engineer units and artillery with heavy fire are taking part,” Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said Saturday morning during a press briefing in Tel Aviv.“The forces are in the field and continue the fighting,” he added, without giving further details.Hagari’s words confirm the military operation has undergone a significant expansion after what it had earlier described as two “targeted raids,” which took place on Wednesday night and Thursday night. Both those raids saw ground forces withdraw after a few hours. However, it does not appear as though any major ground offensive aimed at seizing and holding signif...Update: all southbound lanes on Interstate 280 reopened to traffic after fatal crash

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Jude Bellingham won’t forget his first “clasico” match as the England midfielder scored two goals including a stoppage-time winner to lead Real Madrid to a 2-1 comeback victory at Barcelona in the Spanish league on Saturday. They were Bellingham’s 12th and 13th goals in 13 games in all competitions since he joined Madrid this summer, including a Spanish league-leading 10 goals in 11 rounds.Barcelona went ahead in the sixth minute through former Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan’s first goal for his new club. The hosts also hit the woodwork twice before Bellingham equalized.Bellingham was kept in check by Barcelona’s Gavi Paéz until he found space well outside the box to unleash a strike in the 68th that swerved past Marc-Andre ter Stegen and hit the corner of the net.Bellingham then tapped in the stoppage-time winner when a deflected ball fell to him in front of the net.Madrid remained top, level on points with second-place Girona. BOURNEMOUTH, England (AP) — Philip Billing scored a wonder goal from around 40 yards (meters) on Saturday to earn Bournemouth a 2-1 win over Burnley and its first Premier League victory of the season. The Denmark midfielder collected the ball just inside Burnley’s half, took a couple of touches then — from a central position — lobbed back-pedaling goalkeeper James Trafford for a goal celebrated wildly inside the Vitality Stadium.Few will have enjoyed it more than Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, whose job was coming under pressure after arriving in the offseason and failing to win any of his first nine league games in charge. It looked like Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez might have denied Iraola the much-needed result when he shot into the corner in the 88th minute. After a VAR check that lasted more than five minutes — and drew cries of “this is embarrassing” by fans — the goal was scrubbed off.Charlie Taylor smashed home a bouncing ball home from the edge of the area to put Burnley...Eddie Nketiah scores hat trick as Arsenal routs last-place Sheffield United 5-0 in Premier League

LONDON (AP) — Eddie Nketiah scored his first Premier League hat trick as Arsenal brushed aside last-place Sheffield United 5-0 on Saturday to keep pace in the title race. The England striker made sure Arsenal didn’t miss the injured Gabriel Jesus as he opened the scoring in the 28th minute from close range and completed his hat trick in the 58th with a fierce shot from outside the area to put Arsenal 3-0 up. Substitute Fabio Vieira netted the fourth from the penalty spot in the 88th and Takehiro Tomiyasu completed the rout deep into stoppage time from a corner. Jesus had been the architect of Arsenal’s win at Sevilla in the Champions League in midweek with a goal and an assist, but also sustained a hamstring injury that is expected to sideline the Brazilian for a few weeks. That gave Nketiah another chance to impress and he made full use of it against a team that has now conceded a league-high 29 goals in 10 games. In a tepid first half that saw Arsenal continually pass the ba...Harry Kane imitates David Beckham by scoring from his own half for Bayern Munich

VALLETTA, Malta (AP) — Talks on Ukraine’s plan for peace kicked off in Malta on Saturday, with the participation of more than 65 countries — but not Russia, Maltese and Ukrainian officials said. The two-day meeting of national security delegates is the third round of such talks in recent months. Ukraine sees them as an opportunity to win support for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s 10-point peace plan from countries across the globe, especially as the conflict in the Middle East risks shifting the focus away from Ukraine. Russia has dismissed the initiative as biased and refused to attend the meetings.“Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts are paying off, as international support for the Ukrainian peace formula is growing,” The head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, wrote on X — formerly known as Twitter — ahead of the opening session, stressing the strong international attendance. The initial round of talks in Copenhagen in June saw just 15 participants, rising to 43 f...DP World Tour Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Scores
