EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – A man faces criminal charges in connection with a child sex crimes investigation in the Metro East. Derek L. Jones, aged 20, is facing six charges related to CSAM. Jones voluntarily turned himself in to the police on September 20 and is currently being held in the Madison County jail. Federal agents head operation on I-270 in St. Louis County The Edwardsville Police Department began investigating a case involving Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) in January 2023 and received a tip that linked Jones to crimes. Per court documents, Jones had explicit photos and videos of CSAM on his computer and phone. State Sen. Faith Winter, the Colorado Democrats’ third-ranking Senate leader, is recovering after a Tuesday bike crash required her to undergo surgery.A statement posted to Winter’s social media late Wednesday morning, attributed to “friends and family” of Winter, said that while she was riding to the State Capitol on Tuesday afternoon, she hit a curb with her bicycle after attempting to avoid being struck by a large truck.Though Winter was wearing a helmet, she sustained head injuries and was hospitalized for observation, the statement says. She later needed surgery to relieve pressure on her brain.
